MEET THE TEAM

At Spiegel & Spiegel we have a team of experienced and skilled accountants and consultants. We who are passionate about helping clients achieve their financial goals.

  • Michael is a member of The Australian Society of CPA’s. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Commercial Law) at The University of Melbourne in 1988. Shortly thereafter, he joined KPMG as a graduate accountant, gaining his grounding in the private business services division – involved in a mixture of accounting, taxation and audit work.

After leaving KPMG during the 1991 recession, Michael travelled extensively overseas teaching English in non-English speaking schools. On returning to Australia, Michael worked in the manufacturing and property development environments.

In the mid-'90s Michael returned to public practice and resumed his career in accounting and taxation at a small St Kilda Road firm.

In 1998 Michael joined his brother in public practice, where he was a partner in a firm that grew from 20 to 70 employees over a 4-5 year period. In 2005, as part of a succession plan, the growing firm sold 100% of its equity to a public company (which was the fifth-largest provider of accounting and taxation services in Australasia) as a business services principal.

After years at large firms, Michael and David decided to create Spiegel & Spiegel to offer a more boutique service to their clients.

  • With 38 years of experience, David has used his expertise in accounting, taxation and business consulting to build and establish long-standing relationships with his clients.

David holds a Bachelor of Economics and Politics from Monash University and is both a chartered accountant and tax agent. He specialises in taxation and business consulting – working with small & medium-sized enterprises, large family groups, and international companies in the information technology industries.

In 1984, David began his career at Priestley & Morris (Moore Stephens). After three years, he joined William Buck as a senior accountant.

By 1990, David had commenced his practice, which continues today through Spiegel & Spiegel.

David merged his practice with a St Kilda Road firm of 12 people in 1994. He was instrumental in organically growing that firm to 70 people by 2005. As part of a succession plan, the company was acquired and David became a partner in the fifth largest accounting practice in Australasia.

After many years at large firms, Michael and David decided to create Spiegel & Spiegel to offer more boutique and personalised services to their clients.

  • Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from Monash University and is a Certified Practising Accountant.
